QS1 NRx is shutting down. Your next move shouldn’t be sideways.
QS/1 is sunsetting NRx. If you’re unhappy with the support or the company behind your software, why switch to another product under the same ownership?
You're being forced to change systems. Don't be forced to stay with the same company. Before locking yourself in, see why more pharmacies choose Datascan.
December 31
2027
A deadline for your software.
A choice for your pharmacy.
QS/1 has announced the NRx sunset and points customers toward PioneerRx, PrimeRx and BestRx.

Your real QS1 deadline may be sooner than December 31, 2027.
Here is what QS/1 and RedSail have published about the NRx sunset.
December 31, 2027
QS/1’s website says NRx will sunset on December 31, 2027. RedSail’s FAQ says NRx’s aging architecture makes it hard to meet new regulatory standards, including the new NCPDP SCRIPT e-prescribing standards.

Likely sooner
RedSail says it will migrate customers in waves and has assigned each pharmacy a unique deadline. Check your email or contact RedSail Customer Success to get yours.

Claims stop
According to RedSail, when NRx shuts down, support ends and PowerLine access is terminated. You keep your archived data, but claim adjudication and card processing no longer function.

A different RedSail product is still RedSail.
If NRx support, pricing or the company’s direction has frustrated you, ask what actually changes when the product name does. The owner doesn’t. Neither does the company deciding what happens to your pharmacy next.
Consolidation has created uncertainty for some pharmacy owners: new pricing models, changed support, bundled relationships. You’re entitled to know which of those you’re signing up for.
Ownership as announced June 13, 2024: Leonard Green & Partners made a growth investment in RedSail, a Francisco Partners portfolio company. QS/1 identifies itself as a part of RedSail Technologies. Sources: Business Wire, qs1.com.
Start with a plan.
Not a last-minute scramble.
Compare your options now
List what you want to improve. See the actual workflows. Ask for references and an itemized quote.
Confirm the conversion scope
Review your NRx export, hardware and vendor connections. Agree on what transfers, what needs separate access and who is responsible.
Validate, train and schedule
Review converted records, plan staff training and establish the launch support process before choosing your go-live date.
Leave room before the sunset
Plan a buffer ahead of your assigned deadline for adjustments. Confirm the implications of the QS1 sunset for your NRx agreement directly with QS/1.
What converts from NRx?
The scope depends on the available export and your configuration. Review these categories with Datascan before committing:
- Patient and prescriber profiles
- Prescription history and refill information
- Drug and inventory records
- Balances, images, documents and other history
These are review categories, not a guarantee that every field transfers. Get the mapping, exclusions, validation process and historical-access plan in writing.
Compare the whole quote.
A monthly price doesn’t tell the whole story. Ask each provider to break out:
- Software, conversion, installation and training
- Hardware and interface requirements
- Support, transaction fees and optional services
- Contract term, renewals and exit costs
Ask Datascan about available conversion offers and eligibility. Confirm exactly what is included in your written quote.
Don’t settle for “it’ll be better.” Ask how.
Ask every vendor these questions-- including Datascan
- 01Who answers when my pharmacy needs help, and how are urgent issues escalated?
- 02Which costs are fixed, which vary, and how can pricing change?
- 03Will I need to change my switch, credit card processor or other vendors?
- 04What data transfers, what does not, and how do we verify it?
- 05What training and launch support are included in writing?
- 06What is your product roadmap, and how are major changes communicated?
Know your options before you decide.
